Here you’ll see how ancient sailing ships were built and launched in coastal fishing villages, and how our sailors sailed them to the world’s far seas and oceans. Maps, plans, seafarers’ diplomas, school records, books, photographs, navigational instruments, sailboat-building tools and everyday objects will allow you to feel the spirit of the captain within.
The special feeling that comes over everyone who leaves this small, welcoming museum is pride in the Latvian nation’s illustrious maritime past and its strong and courageous seafarers. Now, take a stroll around Ainaži to breathe in the traces of seafaring throughout the town.
