The cosy freeze-dried products factory “ZAĻĀ VAĻĀ” is waiting for you in Lejasciems parish, surrounded by forest. “ZAĻĀ VAĻĀ” is a small family-run business which deals with freeze-drying of fruit and vegetables. Freeze-drying is a drying method in which, by freezing the products and heating them at an appropriate temperature and lowering the pressure in the chamber, the ice is converted into steam and separated from the products. When dried in this way, the products do not lose their flavour, colour or shape, have little loss of vitamins and become crisp, crumbly and literally melt on the tongue. These products have a long shelf life and can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container. The company’s mission is to use as little sugar as possible, thus creating a healthy alternative to sweets.

During the tour you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the freeze-drying process, try your hand at making the products yourself and, if you are not afraid of the unknown, experience a “blind” tasting. After the tour, you can taste all the products offered by “ZAĻĀ VAĻĀ” and buy them.
