“Treasure House of the Free State” is a new cultural site on the banks of the Rezekne River by the castle mound itself, created to collect and make accessible to the public information on the history of military and civilian awards of the First Free State of Latvia, as well as various organisations related to the activities of state and civic organisations in the period from the Latvian War of Independence to the Second World War.
The exhibition house displays several hundred different historical testimonies from Latvian and foreign private collections, covering the period from 1918 to 1940, revealing the history of Latgale and Rezekne.
The exhibition has been created taking into account the latest modern trends – it is possible to try on medals virtually and to work in digital stands. The second floor, on the other hand, is reserved for changing exhibitions, where for the time being you can see paintings by Latgale artists, as well as paintings depicting Latgale landscapes.
