The museum building was built in 1840. Originally it was a water mill, since 1852 it was the seat of the Tērvete School for ten years, and later it was home to foresters.
In 1922, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the work of the writer Anna Brigadere, the house was granted to the writer, with ransoms. The writer named the house Sprīdīši.
Sprīdīši – the most important place of work and rest of Anna Brigader. It was here that the writer spent her last eleven summers. In Sprīdīši she wrote most of her autobiographical Trilogy, the fairy tale play Lolita’s Wonderful Mouth, the plays When Wives Play, Hetera’s Inheritance, The Pastors, Queen Jana, short stories and poems.
