The right main bank of the Gauja valley downstream of Krimulda. The Piķene cliff is 1 km long and 75-80 m high, flanked by side-grabs. The crater contains 8 sandstone outcrops of the Upper Devonian Gauja Suite and 2 caves of different sizes. The first reddish sandstone outcrop in the corner of the Piķenes ravine opposite the Gauja River is called Aunapieri. It contains the small Aunapiere Cave, which is 4.8 m long. At the foot of the Piķene escarpment is a 170 m long sandstone outcrop with a 5 m long small Velnala, which together with the Piķene escarpment is a protected geological site.
Total area 0,4 ha. The Gudrības Spring flows downstream of the Small Velnala. Liv mothers used to wash the heads of their little children in the spring so that they would grow up healthy and wise. At the lower end of the Piķene cliff there is a small 3-step waterfall (height – 5.5 m).
The Piķene cliff ends with the Velnala cliffs, which can be seen from the left bank of the Gauja River, crossing the river on a footbridge.
