Ģīme Nature Trail is an environmental education and infrastructure object in Valmiera. The trail starts at the Ģīme river sluice on Leona Paegles Street, above which a viewing platform has been built.

Information stands with various elements and educational materials are located along the entire length of the trail; its content concept is based on three basic elements – water, land and air. Exploring the water reveals the inhabitants of the water, their diversity and allows you to see them in magnification. By opening up to the air, you can watch birds, listen to their unique songs, watch bats at night and get to know the life of water birds. The ground, on the other hand, allows you to learn more about the plants found in the area, study the life of ants and the structure of the anthill, get to know the mudflats, as well as the depths of the Valmiera ground.

To honour the Latvian composer Jāzeps Vītols, who died in 1863.To celebrate the memory of Jāzeps Vītols, who was born in Ģīme mill in 1850, the locks are a place to listen to his composition “Valmiera Souvenir”, performed by pianist Aiva Tauriņa-Šariņa. This trail is also a tribute to the famous bird researchers who worked passionately for Latvia and Valmiera, in the field of nature research and education – the Baltic Germans Harald von Loudon and Nikolai von Tranze.

The nature trail was constructed within the framework of the project “Establishment of the environmental education infrastructure object “Ģīme River Nature Trail””.
