🌳 About the “EkVidO” environmental education programme
“Rīgas meži” invites schoolchildren and pre-schoolers to take part in educational and exciting nature excursions!
The company offers sessions in Riga’s city forests, parks and at the “EkVidO” environmental education centre – featuring games, activities, tree planting, exploring nature and sitting round a campfire.
Several excursion programmes have been developed based on the learning outcomes specified in the education standards for the natural sciences.

🔬 State-funded STEM lessons
“Rīgas meži” also offers state-funded STEM lessons, in which pupils learn about forest ecosystems, wild birds and responsible behaviour in nature through hands-on activities.

📍 Venues
Depending on the programme chosen, excursions and sessions may take place:
- at the ‘EkVidO’ environmental education centre in Tīnūži parish, Ogre municipality;
- at the “Norupe” tree nursery;
- in Riga’s city forests;
- in Riga’s gardens and parks;
- at an educational institution.
💶 Prices for excursions and lessons
- A tour or lesson with an “EkVidO” instructor: €50.00 per hour for a group of up to 30 people.
- Travel costs for off-site sessions: 0.62 EURper kilometre, if the session takes place outside Riga’s administrative territory and outside the “EkVidO” environmental education centre.
- ‘Stories of Riga’s Parks’ tour: €230.00 for a 1.5-hour tour for a group of up to 30 people.
- Lessons conducted in a foreign language: an additional 10.00 EUR per hour.
- Bird feeder construction: €20.00 per feeder.
- Bird feeder making: €25.00 per feeder.
🏷️ Discounts
- A 10% discount applies to legal entities, institutions and individuals from local authorities within the areas managed by SIA “Rīgas meži”.
- The discount applies to the cities of Riga and Jūrmala, as well as the municipalities of Ādaži, Ķekava, Limbaži, Mārupe, Ogre, Olaine, Ropaži, Salaspils and Sigulda.
ℹ️ Useful information before your visit
- Choose clothing and footwear suitable for the weather conditions.
- If you’re planning a picnic or a gathering around a campfire, please bring your own food, disposable tableware and any necessary equipment.
- The “EkVidO” Environmental Education Centre provides firewood, kindling and skewers for barbecuing.
