The Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia was founded in 1922 and its 15 hectares offer more than 6000 varieties of plants from Latvia and the world.

Guided tours for schoolchildren and other interested visitors are one of the oldest traditions of the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia. We offer a guided tour of the Botanical Garden and a look at the diversity of Latvian and world flora.

Tours

During the tour, your guide will tell you about the most interesting exhibits in the Garden – tropical plants, medicinal and poisonous plants, relics or “dinosaurs” of flora and many others. Not to be forgotten are the magnificent flowering plants that open their flowers at different times of the year – azaleas, rhododendrons, magnolias, lilies, roses, dahlias and others, as well as, of course, the Butterfly House of the UL Botanical Garden.

Pleasenote that at the moment the Plant Houses (Subtropical Greenhouse or Palm House, Tropical and Succulent Greenhouses) are closed for an indefinite period of time due to technical reasons.

The content and presentation of the tours can be adapted to the needs of both large and small audiences and, where possible, to the preferences of visitors who are interested in learning more about a particular topic.

Tour length: 60-75 min.

Thematic lessons.

To learn more about a wide range of botany topics, we offer classes a thematic lesson in the Botanic Garden.

During the lesson, students will learn theory and, to consolidate and extend their knowledge, they will go on a tour of the Garden to learn about plants and play themed games.

Lesson length: 50-75 min.
