Cognitive and sensory trail “Visiting the beech”

The Skolas Park on the Dobele – Zaļenieki road near the Krimūnai Primary School offers pleasant moments of rest for travellers. Its pride is a maple tree, which was elected the parish tree in 1998 by the people of the parish. The maple is also the symbol of the school, decorated with wooden letters made by the school children.

The school park has an educational and sensory trail “Visiting the beech tree”. The 400-metre trail is barefoot and offers the chance to experience the feel of pebbles, cones, acorns and other natural materials. Groups can follow the trail with a guide, doing various interactive tasks. You must register in advance by calling 25488435.

The Discovery Garden, a little further away, invites you to discover the diversity of woody plants. They have been planted by the owners of the tidiest farms in the parish. The trees are complemented by flower planting, variously shaped resting benches, swings and a giant pole.

The Latvian Signs Avenue was opened in 2016. At the end of the trail, ten Latvian characters have been installed near a large beech tree, where there are also benches for trail walkers and a wooden bridge. The inscriptions were carved by Jānis Bensons, a craftsman and a teacher at Auce Secondary School. Each sign is accompanied by information about its meaning.
