Eduards Veidenbaums (1867-1892) Museum “Kalāči” is the place where the famous Latvian poet grew up, studied, worked and died from the fifth year of his life.
The Memorial House houses a new, modern, interactive exhibition “More Light” about the poet and his family, while the exhibition hall houses the largest exhibition of Vidzeme dowry chests and 19th-century household utensils in Latvia. The spacious garden features a monument to E. Veidenbaums (by L. Blumbergs), oak trees planted by Eduards’ father and a small log cabin tucked away in the corner of the garden – Veidenbaums’ much-loved barn, where the poet stayed during the summers.
The pond has a real black sauna and a picnic area where you can sit by the fire after a tour.
