Environmental object “Air”
Pilsētas parks, Balvi

Environmental object “Air” – a symbolic wind chime tree that makes music with wind pipes in response to air movement. The environmental object designed by architect Didžis Jaunzems is located in Balvi City Park and was inaugurated on 5 August 2017.
The wind chime tree consists of 324 wind chimes bearing the coats of arms of all Latgale regions and is set to music by 48 wind chimes. The world’s largest wind chime ensemble has been installed in Balvi. There are wind chimes with longer and thicker diameter poles all over the world, but nowhere are there so many wind chimes in one place.

“Air” is one of the five natural environment objects created by the joint project of the Northern Latgale municipalities “Loba doba Zīmeļlatgolā, or discover the nature researcher in yourself!” within the framework of the project. The environmental object “Earth” is located in Baltinava municipality.
