ABOUT THE MUSEUM

The museum focuses not only on research and preservation of the cultural heritage of the region, but also actively offers innovative educational and artistic expressions – exhibitions, museum classes, festivals and expositions.

The museum’s main exhibition in the historic orangery of Vecgulbene Manor covers the cornerstones of the region’s history, as well as the design of local people, including two Julias – Madernieks and Straume. Both Julijis have created a precondition for the Museum’s international cooperation with the countries of the Middle East.

Lessons

The Museum, in cooperation with the Gulbene County Education Board, primary school and art teachers, has developed a number of lessons that provide Latvian teachers with the opportunity to learn with their classes outside school in accordance with the competence approach and the knowledge, skills and attitudes defined in the national standard for primary education.
