In Latvia, the Institute is a leading research centre in biology. It comprises 11 laboratories and one research group.
You can choose a specific topic for a tour from the research carried out in the Institute’s laboratories:
- A visit to the Latvian Herbarium and a talk about the organisation, importance and research of the Latvian flora;
- a visit to the
- bird ringing centre and a talk about the aims and importance of ringing;
- a visit to the
- plant genetics laboratory and a talk about modern methods in genetics research and their importance;
- a visit to the entomological and acarological collections and a talk on Latvian insects and mites;
- a visit to the experimental entomology laboratory with a talk on biological methods for plant pest control;
- a visit to the plant mineral nutrition laboratory with a talk on the importance of soil analysis in agriculture and horticulture.
Entrance fee: by donation or individual arrangement. Group: up to 15 people Excursions must be booked one week in advance, indicating the topic of interest.
