ABOUT US
Jaunpils Craft House is a place where children and schoolchildren can learn about Latvian traditions – from sheep shearing to weaving in a special weaving workshop for children.
Visitors to the Craft House are offered a guided tour “From the sheep’s back to the finished costume”. The weavers’ workshop has 18 looms of all types. They are used to make fabrics in various techniques such as circular, trinit, drill, plain, weft-patterned, rose, satin, etc. We demonstrate the weaving of the Zemgale flowered brown cloth with the pulling device. P.Viļumsons’ semi-automatic loom “Lielupes vlņi” is in operation.
Jaunpils Craft House has been awarded the “Latvian Heritage” cultural label in the Rural Traveller competition.
