Krāslava Crafts Centre

The Krāslava Crafts Centre started its activity in 2021. The Centre has seven craft workshops where you can get acquainted with ancient crafts, make a whistle maker out of clay, work in the woodworking workshop, feel the interplay of colour and yarn in the weaving workshop, try your hand at making a glass mosaic souvenir in the glass decor workshop, create a leather jewel with your own hands, listen to a lecture in the fragrance workshop, and taste the products of local home producers in the Latgale culinary heritage workshop.

Krāslava Crafts Centre offers:

  • Visit and tour of the Craft Centre (free of charge);
  • tours with demonstration: approx. 30 minutes per workshop;
  • masterclasses: approx. 1 hour per workshop;
  • the opportunity to buy crafts on site.

The following activities take place at the Krāslava Crafts Centre:

1. Ceramics workshop with Olga and Valdis Pauliņš

The workshop can accommodate up to 40 people. Visitors learn about the craft and, under the guidance of the potters, get involved in the production of a ceramic souvenir.

2. Woodworking workshop with Aivars Andžāns

The workshop can accommodate up to 20 people. Visitors learn about the craft and, under the guidance of a master woodworker, take part in the making of a wooden souvenir.

3. Weaving workshop with Aina Guba

The workshop can accommodate up to 12 people. Participants learn about the craft and, under the guidance of a weaver, make a woven or woven souvenir.

4. Glass decor workshop with Elvīra Škutāne

The workshop can accommodate up to 20 people. Visitors learn how to make stained glass in the Tiffany technique and create a glass mosaic souvenir under the guidance of the master.

5. Aroma workshop with Mara Belaeva

The workshop can accommodate up to 20 people. Participants learn about the variety of aromatic raw materials and the use of incense, herbs, oils and perfumes. A series of practical workshops is also offered. The master, at her choice, leads practical or lecture sessions with aroma tasting and aromatic product preparation.

6. Leather jewellery workshop with Ludmila Morozova

The workshop can accommodate up to 10 people. Visitors learn about the process of creating leather jewellery and the basics of craftsmanship, as well as create a leather jewellery souvenir under the guidance of a master craftswoman.

7. The Latgale Culinary Heritage Workshop

The workshop can accommodate up to 50 people. Visitors enjoy the culinary heritage of the Krāslava region or the products of local home producers (smoked meats, bread, Krāslava cucumbers, cheese, tea, confectionery). Prices: for groups (from 10 people) – EUR 10 per person.

Ceramics, woodworking, weaving and glass decoration workshops participate in the “LATVIAN SCHOOLS IN THE HOME” programme.
