Liepsalas is located near Lake Lubāna, Ošupe municipality.

Many years ago, a boy was born in Liepsalas and named Oskars. A boy dreamer, like all children, Oskars started his life in the Madona side, here, in Liepsalas Meirāni, then in 1882. The life of a farmer’s son who became a soldier and proved himself in his tasks, a man who remained faithful to his FATHERLAND through changing times and powers, GAVE his life for a FREE LATVIA. The soul remained in Liepāja, but the Spirit always returns to its home, where the Family once was… . The Kalpaks raised the pride of Latvia – Oskars Kalpaks, the first commander of the Independent Army.

• ”AKMENS STASSTI” – activities for children and youth
• The annual ‘‘Flag Festival” takes place in the second week of September, the event rules include activities for: safety, friendship, work, celebration. For teams – a sports, educational and relaxing programme: ”For mental and physical vigilance”. Activities are provided by: Home Guard soldiers, Youth Guard instructors, and other partners, according to the current regulations.
