The Lizums Local History Museum is housed in the Lizums Manor House, which has been a school since 1937 and is now the Lizums Secondary School. In 1997, the museum became the Lizums Parish Local History Museum.
The museum offers information on the history of Lizums from ancient times to the present day. You will be pleasantly surprised by the tidy and restored school environment, the well in the semi-basement, the historical items left to the museum by the local people. The museum offers the opportunity to practise pen and ink lettering
The museum guides will be happy to offer you the opportunity to see the historical and modern buildings, find out about the personalities who inhabited and preserved them, take you to the Lizums candy goth shop, the only one in Latvia that still uses handmade packaging, etc.
The guide’s narration will give you the opportunity to feel the past and see its application today with your own eyes.
Past and present intertwine at every turn in Lizums, it is worth seeing.

The memorial house of the painterJānis Brekte “Saulieši” in Lizuma parish – the former servants’ house of Lizuma manor, built at the beginning of the 19th century. The attic houses a large exhibition hall for professional artists of 3 generations of the family, where paintings, prints, installations, objects and ceramics are exhibited. A separate room is dedicated to the family hobby.

Velēna Ev.Luteriskā baznīca – acultural monument ofnationalimportance. One of the most beautiful churches in Latvia. The neo-Gothic building was consecrated in 1898.
