Dzirnavu Lake is a popular place for walks and recreation for Valmiera residents and visitors. The middle of the lake is beautifully decorated with a fountain, like a delicate bouquet, which is luxuriously illuminated in the evenings. The lake is surrounded by footpaths and viewing platforms. On the shore of the lake, not far from the Valmiera Drama Theatre, is the art object “Kroders’ Apple Tree” by the artist Aivars Vilipsōns and Ivars Miķelsons, which is a tribute to the 99th birthday of the director Oļģerts Kroders. On sunny days, you can watch the passage of time by looking at the sculpture “Sundial” by artist Mattias Jansons.
