It is home to a remarkable diversity of protected plants, one of Latvia’s greatest national treasures. Several plant species have their northern limit of distribution in Latvia and are rare in the rest of Latvia. The territory of the nature reserve is particularly noteworthy as a breeding site for the lesser spotted eagle, black stork, several species of woodpeckers and other protected birds. Birdwatching in summer, viewing protected plants, surveying oaks, viewing hunting trophies and weapons, walking along the Tērvete River, mushroom picking are all possible.
A particularly interesting and useful excursion for schoolchildren, led by forest ranger Agris Ģērmanis. Price by arrangement. Resting place available – table, fireplace, ample space for tents. Nature trail ~ 2 km. 56.370968, 23.164282
