ABOUT THE MUSEUM
The Ogre Museum of History and Art is a unique place where history and art meet in an exciting and interactive way. It is located in the historic centre of Ogre, just a few minutes from the railway station and bus station – easily accessible to everyone. Since 4 May 2025, the Ogre Museum of History and Art has been joined by a new building , “Brīvības ceļš”, located at 2 Brīvības Street.
OFFERS
The permanent exhibition “Stop Ogre” provides a multifaceted insight into the cultural and historical development of Ogre, using digital technologies – projections, interactive maps and videos – that make learning about history not only informative, but also exciting and accessible to visitors of all ages.
The changing art and history exhibitions in the Great and Small Halls offer the opportunity to explore new themes, eras and artists, broadening your horizons and understanding of art.
Currently, the museum offers the following museum-educational activities:
HISTORICAL ARCHITECTURE OF OGRES
Cardboard house folding workshop. Ogre, a town of ancient cottages, can offer an exciting and educational experience that meets cultural and educational objectives while promoting creativity, cooperation and sustainable thinking.
Target audience: 3-12. Grade 12-12
STONE AMULET – PUT YOUR OWN THOUGHT STONE IN THE CABIN
Our workshop invites you to take part in an exciting and creative event – a painted stone workshop where you can express your artistic talent and create your own unique thought stone!
Target audience: people of all ages (pre-school pupils – accompanied by an adult)
PIETURA OGRE
The museum’s permanent exhibition tells the story of the town of Ogre over the centuries in a visually striking way, using the possibilities offered by digital technologies – projections, sound showers, an interactive map, video and audio materials.
Target audience: 5th-12th grade
