ABOUT THE MUSEUM

One of the most beautiful places in the Ergļi Parish of the Vidzeme Highlands is Braki. The Latvian classicist Rudolfs Blaumanis (1863 – 1908) lived and worked here. He was a master of novels and the founder of modern drama in Latvian literature.

R. Blaumanis Memorial Museum in Braki was founded on 10 May 1959. All the buildings have been restored and designed as they were during the writer’s lifetime.

Braki Farm consists of a complex of 8 buildings – a dwelling house, a barn, a granary with a guben, an outhouse and a mill, a horse stable, a grain granary, a barn with a squirrel house, a bathhouse and a small animal barn.

The Braki trails lead to the Lightning Stone, Edgar’s sculpture, the Hundred-soles Trail, Noliņš’ Apple Tree, the Monument Stone, Jāņkalniņi, Pirtsgravas spring.
