The Big Strop Lake is the largest reservoir in Daugavpils and attracts a large number of holidaymakers in the summer season. The central beach of the Great Stropu Lake is awarded the Blue Flag by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) every year, which indicates cleanliness, safety and developed infrastructure.

The central beach area is landscaped with various recreational elements – a pedestrian promenade for walking, which is illuminated during the dark hours of the day, an asphalt cycle path, as well as an exercise area with outdoor fitness equipment for active lifestyles. A free beach volleyball court, changing rooms, benches, parking and toilets are available to visitors.

Visitors to the central beach have access to a unique pontoon structure on the lake, consisting of a ‘lake promenade’, a 25-metre-long open pool with 4 lanes, a diving tower and a children’s swimming pool with a seating area with parasols and deck chairs, which are free of charge.

The central beach is a good place for families with children, as the lake shore is shallow and there is a playground near the beach. Children can have fun trying out the various play structures, slides and swings.
