The museum was founded in 1992 and is housed in the former manor distillery. The museum preserves the history of its native village.
Visitors to the museum can see agricultural tools and household objects made in Vērgale, as well as rows of looms woven into the common floor walkway.
The ground floor of the building houses the open collection, and the exhibition hall hosts regular thematic and art exhibitions. The unique Mantelpiece, one of the largest in Kurzeme, conjures up tales and stories of antiquity.
