One of the largest and most scenically rich lakes in the Liepāja area. It covers an area of 670.5 hectares and has an average depth of 1.5 metres. The floodplain meadows of the north-eastern part of the lake are included in the NATURA 2000 list of protected nature territories.
Durbe Lake is rich in fish and is therefore popular with anglers.
On the western shore of Durbe Lake there is an observation tower with a view of the lake, the adjacent meadows and the Durbe built-up area.
