Ainaži pier
Ainaži, Limbažu novads

Water all around, but still on land? That’s what Ainaži North Pier is for, where you can enjoy the eternal cinema of nature – the sunset. Screenings every evening and in every season. Ainaži Pier is a 20th century. It is located right at the Latvian-Estonian border. The main purpose of the pier was to provide a narrow-gauge railway branch from Ainaži station to the breakwater, to make it easier for ships to bring their goods ashore and transport them further. The construction of the weir started in 1912, but was interrupted by the First World War, during which the port of Ainaži, as a strategically important facility, suffered greatly. The northern pier of Ainaži is like the Great Wall of Latvia – 361 metres long on the shore and 482 metres in the bay.
