In front of the manor house of Galēnu manor, Galēnu municipality, Preili district, there is a French garden-style park with a Philosophy Trail.

The 600-metre-long trail features wooden sculptures-symbolic images rooted in the works of the poet and philosopher: “Uroboros the Snake”, “The Crocodile and I”, “The Ox-Man”, “The Stork”, “The Angel”, etc.

Before going for a walk, you should visit the Robert Monk Museum. The guide “Step by Step on the Trail of Robert Monk’s Philosophy” is available free of charge at the museum. It includes not only a description of each sculpture to help you understand the meaning of each symbol, but also creative exercises to encourage you to reason, think, evaluate and express yourself.

For those wondering: if you come to the Philosophy Trail, is it better to do it with or without children? Will they find it interesting? – We say: they will! We invite families with children to join us on a tour of the Trail, as the time spent together and the content of the exercises will promote reasoning, mutual respect and understanding.

The Trail is open to the public all year round. In every season, the trail takes on a new view of the changing nature – newly blooming in spring, colourful in autumn, completely white in winter and verdant in summer.
