Pažaisle Educational Trail
T. Masiulio g. 21A, Kaunas, Lietuva
The Pažaislis Educational Trail runs across the Petrašūnai peninsula in Kaunas, adjacent to it and passing by the Žalgiris Yacht Club in Kaunas and the famous Baroque architectural ensemble, Pažaislis Monastery.
The total length of the trail is approximately 3.6 kilometres, forming a loop, and can be completed on foot in about 2 hours. As the trail is circular, it offers several starting points, and visitors can leave their car at any of the car parks in the area before setting off, for example at the yacht club or at Pažaisle Monastery.
The trail is set next to the lakes and winds along the hillsides, offering an extraordinary panorama of the Kaunas Lagoon reservoir on one side and the stunning Pažaisle Monastery on the other.
One of the main attractions of the Pažaislis Educational Trail is the oak tree of Mount Taikos, which is a state-protected natural monument. It is the thickest oak tree in Kaunas Lagoon Regional Park, with a circumference of 5.15 metres and a height of 21 metres. Researchers have established that this magnificent tree is over 600 years old, making it a valuable historical testimony and a must-visit on this walk.
