Badger Cave Cognitive Geological Landslide Trail

The trail is located in the Karajimiškės Landscape Reserve, in the Mantagaiškės “Gojelis” forest. The hiking trail is located on an area of 2.5 ha covered with a confluence soil. The total length is 700 m. The geological trail consists of an educational trail, stairs and footbridges, as well as information signs.

The trail starts at the ‘Geologų duobė’ (Geologists’ pit), then passes the ‘Lapės ola’ (Lapės egg) and, reaching the south-western edge of ‘Gojelis’, leads into the crater complex here, where the ‘Barsukas ola’ and other larger and deeper craters are located. Barsuka Cave is the result of two formerly connected falls, currently 32 m long and 3,5 m deep. The trail then winds northwards and passes by the falls on the edge of the Gojelis, descends through a karst remnant, round one of the larger falls and on the way back descends into another fall, from which it returns to the edge of the Gojelis, climbing between other smaller falls. The trail offers up to 13 falls, three of which are more complex in shape and in which two or three previously open falls are joined by depressions.
