The military history of the Blue Mountains goes back more than 900 years. Today, you can see the consequences of three wars in nature; a monument to the soldiers who died in battle in 1944 stands on the slopes of Grenaderimegi. If you want to learn more about the history and events of the Blue Mountains, visit the nearby Vaivar War-History Museum or hike the Vaivar History Trail.
Interesting fact: The Blue Mountains are a rather unique landform in Estonia. The three hills, interconnected on a flat plateau, are actually giant blocks that have been detached from the limestone coast by the advance of the continental glacier and moved here.
