The four-kilometre-long nature trail is located in Svente Nature Park, which is included in the protected landscape area “Augšzeme” and offers visitors spectacular views of nature – deep ravines, a lake, moss-covered boulders, as well as mighty oak trees and the remains of World War I trenches, which testify to the historical heritage of the area.
The trail is marked with bicolour flags painted on trees along the entire route. When walking, please note that the route follows woodland paths and stigmas and will therefore be difficult for younger walkers. The route of the Egļukalns Forest Trail will soon be published in the LVM GEO mobile app and on the website.
Svente Nature Park was established in 1977 to preserve the unique natural landscape of Lake Svente. It is also a great place for bird watching, as the reedbeds of the lake have been chosen as nesting sites by several species of protected birds: the great gull, the great and little buzzards, as well as other common bird species.
