This is one of the largest marshes in Kervem . The area of the marshland massif covers about 1000 ha. The most striking feature of this picturesque, acacia-rich raised bog is its two-tiered topography, with acacia strips at two different altitudes.
Thousands of water birds visit the marsh in spring and autumn. Lake Kackerdaya extends into the middle of the marsh .
Three quarters of a kilometre east of Lake Kackerday lies the 2.6 ha species-rich island of Hijesāre Marsh, thought to have been an ancient place of refuge and sacrifice. The 4 km long nature trail is covered with a boardwalk.

2020. in 2007, reflectors were installed on the Kalajärve section (3.4 km) of the Kackerdaya track. It is recommended to take a torch with you.
