This trail takes you back a few thousand years in history, across the backs of kangars and the bellies of vipers. Kangars are ancient dunes and vigas are wet inter-dune depressions.
In spring and autumn, the vigas undergo a transformation – they fill up with water and become small seasonal lakes. For a while, the Pīļi Ponds viga was flooded, but now the waters have receded and the viga is left to the natural tides.
The trail will lead you to Pēterezers, crossing the remains of the former narrow-gauge railway along the way.
The walk can be continued along the marshy shore of the lake, where several protected plant species can be found.
The trail is 3.4 km long.
