The Bog Trail is a unique tourist and nature education object. The Marsh Trail is about one and a half kilometres long with several viewing platforms and hides for bird and animal watching. The trail is located in the Esplanade Wetland next to the Latgale Zoo.

The Esplanade Marsh Trail has several entrances, and you can start your walk at four places:
▪ at the viewing platform on the hill, i.e.
▪ at the Daugavas Street footpath next to the wastewater treatment plant;
▪ at the Daugavas Street footpath next to the dog walking park;
▪ from the Latgale Zoo.

The trail is equipped with bicycle racks, information stands and signs providing information on the possible directions of the trail.

The “Herpitologist” trail has been built in Purvaja, which is intended as an exciting and educational route. “The Herpitologist Trail can be wet and flooded at times, with possible obstacles such as fallen trees, branches, marsh animals, high humidity and long reeds. However, the viewing platform has binoculars for birdwatching and bird-watching, and there are also bird-watching walls on the footbridges.

The trail is accessible, suitable for mothers with prams and wheelchair users. Exception is the “Herpitologist” trail.

Entrance to the territory is prohibited between 1 March and 1 August, as the bird nesting season is in progress.
