Excursions

We offer more than 20 excursion themes on nature and environmental protection. They are linked to school subject standards – so they can be easily integrated into the learning process. Tours are led by a museum educator or a specialist in the field. Tours last 45 to 60 minutes. We cater for groups of up to 30 people. We offer tours in Latvian, Russian and English.

Tour topics

Lectures

For secondary school students, teachers and other interested persons we offer lectures on nature and environmental protection. The lecture is most often given using a computer presentation and various reference materials from the Museum’s collection – fossils, insects, herbarium, dried mushroom specimens, etc. For the possibility of preparing a lecture on another topic, please contact us at least two weeks in advance by phone 67356051 or e-mail ekskursijas@ldm.gov.lv. The lecture lasts 45 to 60 minutes.We can cater for groups of up to 30 people. Lecture fee – 30,00 € + museum entrance tickets. It is possible to book an outing lecture.

Nature tour

The museum staff are natural scientists from various disciplines and also experienced guides in leading tours not only in the museum exhibitions, but also in the open air. It is possible to invite one of our specialists (mycologist, ornithologist, botanist, geologist or others) to lead an outdoor excursion. The subject, duration, place and time of these excursions are by arrangement. Museum pedagogical programmes and classes

We offer more than 30 classes on nature and environmental topics. The lessons are led by a museum educator or a specialist in the field and are accompanied by a practical activity – filling in worksheets, solving crosswords, watching videos, etc. Lessons last 60 to 90 minutes. We cater for groups of up to 30 people. We offer lessons in Latvian and Russian. Lesson fee – 25,00 € + museum entrance tickets.

Lesson topics

“Museum in our luggagefield trips

In cooperation with the Natural History Museum Support Society and various international projects, we have developed a number of interactive mobile lesson packages. With the “Museum in our luggage” lessons, we are “taking” the Museum to schools in the regions. We do not accept applications from schools in Riga – they are welcome at the museum. Lessons last up to 45 minutes. We cater for groups of up to 30 people. The fee for a “Museum in our luggage” lesson is € 25.00 or € 20.00 (for three or more lessons). You should book at least 1 month in advance.
