The Merkine Lookout Tower, a unique 26-metre-high structure nicknamed “Pine Grove”, rises in Dzūkija National Park. The name comes from its design, which blends in with the surrounding forest. Its brown columns are reminiscent of the pine trees that grow nearby, and the staircase winds up like a forest path, leading to viewing platforms that offer stunning views. From the confluence of the Nemunas and the Merķis rivers to the charming island of Pastraujas and the historic Merkine Church, the view is truly inspiring. When the sun sets, turning the waters of the Nemunas golden, the view becomes particularly magical.
