ABOUT THE MUSEUM
The museum is located in Aizkraukle, in the Kalna Ziedu cultural and historical monument complex. On 18 November 1989, the first museum exhibition was opened in the “Kalna Ziedu” house in Aizkrauklė, which historically belonged to the Dannenfeld family and was bequeathed to the Executive Committee of Stučka at that time. Since then, three buildings have been added to the museum’s grounds: the repository, the exhibition hall and the open storage, built in 1994, 2000 and 2014 respectively.
The museum is surrounded on one side by an apple orchard with medieval crosses and capitals, on the other by the Star Gully and the mound of Kalna Ziedu (Hill of Flowers), with a memorial to the sacred oak tree nearby on the banks of the Daugava, and the trunk of the cult oak itself, which survived the devastation, placed on the museum grounds.
