The medieval ruins of Lielvārde Castle are an archaeological monument of national importance. The stone castle with a fortification rampart was built at the beginning of the 13th century on the site of an ancient Livonian wooden castle on the instructions of the German crusaders. It originally belonged to Bishop Albert of Riga. It suffered several wars and was rebuilt again, but has been in ruins since 1613.

Lielvārde Park is a protected natural object of national importance. It contains protected dendrological plantations. The terrain of the park is flat with two fortified ditches, which create the attractive landscape characteristic of the area.

The park has a Sculpture Garden, which once housed Lielvārde Manor Castle with six columns, terraces and rose planting.

The sculpture garden features 16 wooden sculptures created by the sculptors of the Doma studio under the direction of Jānis Karlovs, in preparation for the centenary of A. Pumpurs’ epic “Lāčplēsis”. All the sculptures depict characters from the epic “Lāčplēsis”.
