The trail is located at the NE end of Limbaži Lielezera and is 3.6 kilometres long. The trail has areas with different levels of landscaping. A bird observation tower has been built at the northern end of the lake. The trail includes a beach and recreation areas, a children’s playground, a boat dock and sports fields. Boat and pedalo hire is available, and ski and skate hire in winter. A pedestrian bridge crosses the Donaviņa River. From the beach, a gravel path leads to the wakeboard centre.

Limbaži and the Limbaži Lielezera Nature Trail are located in the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve, a specially protected nature area. A bird observation tower gives bird lovers the opportunity to observe some of the 99 bird species in the area.

The trail is accessible to people with disabilities.
