ABOUT THE MUSEUM

Founded in 1988, the LACMA Riga Film Museum is the only museum in Latvia dedicated to this field of art. The museum is special for its personal approach and its cosy premises are a place where any visitor can meet, exchange views, get acquainted and learn something new.

The museum’s permanent exhibition “Ayscrania” offers an insight into the film-making process and how filming and screening technologies have changed over time. Animation is a particular highlight of the exhibition, offering an insight into the making of puppet, drawn, app and digitally produced animated films.

The museum regularly hosts small-scale exhibitions, lectures, events and film screenings. We offer guided tours, classes and workshops for groups of visitors, for both film professionals and those who are just starting to get to know cinema.
