ABOUT US

We will be delighted to welcome you to the Blackheads’ House, telling the legends of the Blackheads and the Brotherhood way of life that has “survived” into the 21st century. During your visit you will have the opportunity to walk through the 14th century. you will also have the opportunity to try on medieval knights’ armour. You will also have the opportunity to see the impressive silver collection and tour the banqueting halls. Throughout the exhibition, you will gain an insight into the history of Riga and the House of the Blackheads. The rooms of the House of Blackheads are spacious and on several floors – your classroom will not have to fuss.

The Black Forest House and the exhibition are fascinating for both the older classes and the youngest guests. During the visit, pupils have the opportunity to see the magnificent rooms of the House, as well as to learn about the Blackheads’ Brotherhood and the twists and turns of ancient Riga history:

  • 1 h visit,
  • Minting of the Blackheads’ member coin,
  • trying on medieval knight’s equipment,
  • an insight into the history of Riga and the House of the Blackheads.*

  • Entrance fee for schoolchildren 5.00 EUR
  • Groups of students ( 10 +) – 4.00 EUR
  • Guide service in EN (1h) – 35.00 EUR
  • Guided tours EN ( 1h) – 45.00 EUR
  • FREE admission for group chaperones (1 chaperone per 10 children)

Useful information:

Please arrive at the House of the Blackheads approximately 10 minutes before the start of your visit to allow time for the box office and cloakroom services.

It is possible to organise two parallel visits with a maximum total of ~ 60 students.

The programme can be adapted to minority pupils (by adjusting the level of language difficulty). Please coordinate and discuss the course of the excursions with a member of the Blackheads’ House staff before booking.
