The museum is located in the historic building of the Amata Primary School, which is 146 years old.

The museum’s exhibition contains items from Vanaga’s personal archive.
“Lack the strength and understanding how to live? Overwhelmed by doubts about the future? Read “Gathering of Souls”! Melānija Vanaga is not a prophet and does not impart wisdom. Instead, it is the centuries of the people that speak for her, and she has revealed them vividly and convincingly.” Zigmunds Skujiņš, writer

In the museum you can see the Vanaga family genealogy scroll, which is a 6 m long sheet of paper on which is graphically displayed a grouped, researched history of the family in 14 generations. “My family history is the small history of the Latvian people, at least one page of the history of Vidzeme that has not been written anywhere else. It is a gathered forest of souls”. (M. Vanaga)
