the 8-metre-high Penijõe lookout tower has an open platform and benches at the top. The tower overlooks the 3 000 hectares of reedbed between the branches of the delta, one of the most fascinating habitats in Matsalu National Park.

In the spring nights, the reedbed is home to the howl of the great buzzard, the songs of the lilac warbler, willow warbler and ospreys; in the summer, the inhabitants seek shade and hide in the reed wall up to 4 metres high, and you can spot the reed-lion or the sea eagle flying above the reeds.
The Penijõe hiking trail winds up to the lookout tower.
