ABOUT US
The Riga Zoo branch “Cīruļi” was established in the summer of 1993. The 137 hectares, spacious enclosures and houses 38 species of wild animals, as well as 12 species and a wide variety of domestic animals.
The pride of the Cīruļi Branch is the unusual and legendary Latvian Blue breed of cows. It is worth stopping to admire the herds of kiangs in their spacious enclosures. The hills, valleys, mosses and ponds encourage the animals’ activity and natural behaviour. A keen observer may be able to spot the European Woodquart, a protected amphibian in Latvia.
