Ruins of Ergem Castle

The ruins of Erģeme are a national historical and archaeological monument. It was built around 1320. The castle was built of local rubble, brick and lime mortar. The outer wall of the castle consists of regular square walls, each 70 m long. The castle is a monastic castle with two large fortification towers. The castle is surrounded by moats filled with water. A drawbridge connected the front to the central part.
