The Sedas Bog Nature Reserve is an almost uninhabited area. The peat extraction has created a unique cultural landscape consisting of peat fields, bog ponds and a narrow-gauge railway used for peat extraction.
You can get to know the riches of the Seda Bog by following the marked route, which consists of two separate circles – the Jērceni Side Circle (4.5 km) and the Seda Circle (4.1 km). The two circles can be combined by walking another 2.5 km.
Two lookout towers have been installed in the Seda Marsh. One is a bird-watching tower in the marsh ponds (accessible from Jērceni parish), the other is at the edge of the peat field (accessible from Seda town). The Jērcēņi side circle route has a rest area with a table, benches and a fireplace, and a footbridge.
The best time to visit is in the snow-free period. The most interesting observations in spring and autumn during bird migration.
