The Rietekļa juniper is the largest in the Baltics. It is named after the poet Rietekļa, because the author of the Latvian song “Še kur līgo priežu meži” lived in the nearby “Baložu” house and often used to rest by the juniper.
The tree is about 250 years old, with a circumference of 3.09m and a height of 9.16m. Nearby, on the banks of the Gauja, is the Simonény St.
