The Gren biomass CHP plant in Jelgava is the first large-capacity biomass CHP plant in Latvia to produce energy from a local renewable energy resource – wood chips.

The Jelgava CHP plant can supply up to 85% of the city’s district heating load and supply the whole of Jelgava with heat energy up to -4C. The plant has an electrical capacity of 23 MW and a thermal capacity of 45 MW. The plant produces around 200 GWh of heat and 110 GWh of electricity per year.

We welcome visitors from the age of 16. Group size up to 20 persons.

Monday – Friday 9:00 – 16:00 by prior appointment.

IMPORTANT

  • Low, closed shoes required for the tour.
  • Special clothing is provided at the production premises: safety helmets, signal vests, goggles.
