The ancient Rija Hill in Jaungulbene municipality hosts 14 unique environmental objects reflecting the Latvian virtue of work.
The “Hill of Honour” for the Latvian virtue of work was opened during the Regional Festival in Jaungulbene in the summer of 2016. The other parish and town administrations of Gulbene municipality have prepared the environmental objects as a gift for Jaungulbene. The tools such as a beehive, a spinning wheel, a windmill, a spoon, a spokeshave, a mortar, a hammer and nails, a saw, a mower, a sprigulis and a rake, a spindle and a bread trough were brought to honour. Each tool is a testimony to the work virtue of our municipality and the masterful ingenuity of the administrations, together forming a fantastic ensemble that will continue to enhance the image of New Gulbene.
