One of the most important assets of Iecava is the park, which was created between 1795 and 1800, at the same time as the manor house (castle) was being built. The park was designed in the style of English landscape parks and, together with the manor complex, is an architectural monument of national importance.
The Iecava Manor complex has only been partially preserved. The main building of the manor – the castle – was burnt down in July 1915 and has not been rebuilt. However, several important buildings have survived: the castle library, the barn, the stable building, the park gate-keepers’ houses, the laundry house, and the stone bridge over the river Gedule.
In order to make Iecava Park and its architectural ensemble an attractive tourist destination, the 18th century saw the construction of a wooden bridge and a castle with a castle and a wooden bridge. the plan is to gradually restore the elements of the park ensemble (the castle building, the bird house, the layout of the paths, etc.), but in a slightly different way. In 2024, the outline of the Iecava Manor House with the layout of the rooms has been reproduced in the form of a hedge on the historic site of the castle. Once the hedge has grown and taken shape, the resulting project will become the “Green Labyrinth”, the idea for which was developed by the Latvian company “7 A.M.” in collaboration with the Italian company “AOUMM”.
