ABOUT THE MUSEUM
Bauska Museum is located in the centre of the oldest part of the town – in the Town Hall Square, near the busiest thoroughfare – Kalna Street, in the building of the former hotel “Kurzeme”.

The museum staff has successfully created a new attractive historical exposition “Bauska in Time and People in Bauska in the 20th Century”. The museum’s collection consists of more than 56 thousand items: antiques, photographs, documents, books, furniture, tools, household items and other historical evidence.

Historical, art and other exhibitions are regularly held in the extensive exhibition halls.

The museum is home to the weavers of the Folk Applied Art Studio “Bauska”, who also provide advice on the assembly and production of folk costumes of the Zemgale region.

We are developing cooperation with schools – we offer the possibility to hold lessons related to the history of the region for groups of pupils and classes under the guidance of museum specialists

MUSEUM EXHIBITION

  • “Bauska in Time and People in Bauska in the 20th Century” – the exhibition is designed in an attempt to create associations with a historical walk in the old Bauska over the course of a century, as a street motif runs through it. Thus, anyone staying in the Old Town of Bauska, visiting the museum, which is located right in the centre of the Old Town, has the opportunity to travel back many decades.
  • “The Lost People of Bauska”– The exhibition tells the story of the national minorities that once lived in Bauska – Germans, Jews and “Russians”.
  • Peasants’ Room Furniture and Household Objects of the 19th Century”– The exhibition together with the works of the masters of the Folk Applied Art Studio “Bauska” is on display in the studio’s exhibition hall.
  • Late 19th – early 21st century exhibition of dolls and toys “Time to Play” – a permanent exhibition of children’s dolls, toys and household objects. This exhibition takes you back to your childhood, brings you together with “old friends” and teaches you a lot about the world of dolls and toys. The exhibition is based on the private collection of the artist Tamara Čudnovská.
